Michael Griffiths Returns For The 2019 Adelaide Fringe With Three Productions

Acclaimed Helpmann Award-winning cabaret performer Michael Griffiths returns for the 2019 Adelaide Fringe with three productions: the premiere of Michael Griffiths: By Request; a one night performance with Australian icon, political activist, showbiz royalty and living legend Carlotta, in Carlotta: Queen Of The Cross and a return of Livvy & Pete: The Songs of Olivia Newton-John and Peter Allen.

He's been Peter Allen, Cole Porter, Kylie Minogue, Annie Lennox and Madonna to great acclaim and now Michael takes off the mask and shares stories and songs from 20 years on and off the stage in Michael Griffiths: By Request. Backed by a three-piece band the show comprises hand-picked favourites songs from his back catalogue and those requested via social media from his patrons! Michaels says, 'Hit me up on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to request your song, along with the night you're coming along and I promise to do my best to include it in the show that night'.

Michael Griffiths: By Request will play in Le Cascadeur in the Garden of Unearthly Delights for 10 performances from Friday 15 - Sunday 24 February nightly (except Monday) @ 7.00pm.

For one night only on Wednesday 27 February @ 7.00pm Michael performs with Carlotta in Carlotta: Queen Of The Cross in The Fortuna Spiegeltent in the Garden. Carlotta has led an extraordinary life. Outrageously funny and brutally honest, the inspiration for Priscilla, Queen of the Desert takes you on another whirlwind ride with songs and stories from 50 years on and off the stage. Accompanied by Michael Griffiths on piano along with a three piece band, Carlotta sings the classics by Berlin, Rogers & Hart, Sondheim and her dear friend, Peter Allen.

On Saturday 9 March @ 7.00pm and Sunday 10 March @ 6.30pm Michael joins acclaimed cabaret-darling Amelia Ryan for two performances of Livvy & Pete: The Songs of Olivia Newton-John and Peter Allen at Grand Central at 232 Angas Street Adelaide.

Livvy and Pete the songs of Olivia Newton John and Peter Allen celebrates the songbooks of Aussie icons Olivia Newton-John and Peter Allen. From their humble small-town beginnings to world domination in sequins and jumpsuits, revisit all of their sing-a-long classics from Rio to Tenterfield, all the way to Xanadu and beyond.

As camp as maracas and tender as Pete's gift to Livvy 'I Honestly Love You', there promises to be rollerskates, T-Birds, Pink Ladies, '80s jazzercise and an Oscar winning song to boot!

Griffiths and Ryan are a perfect partnership Ryan looked glorious in her many costume changes and Griffiths wore those famous Allen Hawaiian shirts with glittering ease. Glam

Michael Griffiths won the Helpmann Award for Best Cabaret Performer in 2016 and was nominated for a Green Room Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Bob Crewe in Jersey Boys. Most recently he was honoured with a star on the Walk of Fame at The Adelaide Festival Centre.

Michael has also appeared in the stage musicals: Priscilla Queen of the Desert, We Will Rock You! and Shout! His acclaimed one-man cabaret shows In Vogue, Sweet Dreams, Adolescent and Cole have delighted critics and audiences across every cabaret festival in Australia and beyond to New York, London, Hong Kong and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Amelia Ryan is an award-winning Cabaret Artist, Writer and Mentor. Since co-winning the 2012 Your Theatrics International Cabaret Contest, her critically acclaimed shows A Storm in a D-Cup and Lady Liberty have traversed the Australian Cabaret Festival circuit, as well as New York City, London and the Edinburgh Fringe. Amelia also mentors for the Adelaide Cabaret Festivals Class of Cabaret program.
