Video: MJ - DAS MICHAEL JACKSON MUSICAL Casts Erik Hamilton in Hamburg
American actor Erik Hamilton makes his international stage debut as MJ this fall.
Stage Entertainment has posted a cast announcement video revealing that American actor Erik Hamilton will step into the title role of MJ - Das Michael Jackson Musical at Stage Theater an der Elbe. Hamilton takes over the part beginning in fall 2026, marking his first appearance in the Hamburg production and his international stage debut.
Hamilton comes to the German staging after two years performing in the First National Tour of MJ the Musical in the United States, where he served as standby MJ and Michael, his first professional engagement in the role. His connection to Michael Jackson dates back to childhood, when he and his two brothers played the video game Michael Jackson: The Experience, mimicking the artist's choreography and competing to outdo one another.
Before landing the tour role, Hamilton studied theater performance at Hampton University, graduating summa cum laude. He applied for MJ the Musical while still in school, at his mother's suggestion, a decision that eventually led to his current casting in Hamburg.
The video frames Hamilton's move to Stage Theater an der Elbe as a milestone in a journey that began with childhood fandom and progressed through a national touring standby role to a lead casting abroad. No other cast or creative details were included in the announcement.
