BWW Blog: Sarah Osman - Summer Days and Senior Year
I have less than one month until school starts. In less than one month I will be a senior in high school and I will have to worry about the future that lies ahead of me after graduation. But as of right now, I'm not going to worry about that. I am trying to stay as busy as possible; not worrying about the future but focusing on the present!
The end of the school year was very 'unofficial' for me. I was not in school the last couple days as I went off to Nebraska for the International Thespian Society Festival (which I will post about!). Following that I've been keeping myself busy and it has been wonderful. But since I hadn't been in school the final days of my junior year, the fact that I was going to be a senior hadn't hit me until just recently.
Not long ago, I had the pleasure of helping out with my school's performance summer camp. I go to a performing arts school, so being involved in acting, singing, and dancing at my school is not unusual. But seeing students and summer camp kids that were younger than me... it made me feel old! I helped my acting teachers play theatre games with the students and rehearse for their summer camp showcase. They were so optimistic and fresh! From learning new preparation games, to asking me for suggestions on what they needed to work on- the summer camp kids were a blast to work with!
Helping out with the summer camp made me realize and be okay with the fact that I'm going to be a senior next month. There will always be newcomers, and more generations coming in and joining- not only my school, but with the acting world and in life in general!
I know I am still young and haven't even gotten out of highschool yet, but seeing the younger kids learn about acting made me feel so grateful for all that I've learned and reminded me of what I was like when I was younger. Hopefully senior year will be memorable, but for now all I can do is make sure that each day is a day that wasn't wasted!
