Executive Producer (UK), Michael McCabe said: "With the announcement of our remaining tour dates, in Plymouth and Sunderland in 2015, we are delighted to confirm that audiences in the South West and North East of England will also have the opportunity to experience this spectacular new production of Wicked. We're also thrilled that we'll conclude this record-breaking tour in Greater Manchester in the summer of 2015 having hosted the critically acclaimed premiere there in September 2013".
"This thrillingly entertaining show" (Manchester Evening News) has broken countless Box Office records, won multiple five star reviews across the UK and Ireland and has already been seen by 150,000 people. The Irish Times raved: "from the opening chorus, the whirl of light and colour that is Wicked grabs you and doesn't let go" while the Milton Keynes Citizen said "this distinctive, green-hued saga of witchery really is the perfect prequel - and sensational sequel - to the familiar tale of Oz".
The award-winning London production continues its open-ended run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where tickets are currently on sale into its 9th year. The "hugely popular show" (The Times), which has just been shortlisted for the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award at the 2014 Olivier Awards, is already the 15th longest-running musical in West End theatre history and recently celebrated its landmark 3000th performance.
Around the world, Wicked has already been seen by over 39 million people and has 9 productions running concurrently. The original Broadway production remains "Broadway's biggest blockbuster" (The New York Times) after a decade at the Gershwin Theatre.
In a brilliantly witty re-imagining of the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
Wicked has music and lyrics by multi GRAMMY and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, musical staging by Wayne Cilento and is directed by two-time Tony Award winner and Olivier Award nominee Joe Mantello. Wicked, which is based on the acclaimed novel, 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West', by Gregory Maguire, has won over 90 international awards.
