Based on true events, the World Premiere of Zoe Lewis's passionate and thought-provoking play BRITTEN IN BROOKLYN will be staged at Wilton's Music Hall, starring Sadie Frost and directed by Oli Rose, for 21 performances, 31st August to 17th September 2016. The play will then head out on tour, with hopes for a run in the West End, according to the Daily Mail.

Frost will portray Gypsy Rose Lee, who inspired the well-loved musical GYPSY, which was just seen in the West End starring Imelda Staunton.

Frost told the Mail the play is "about these unlikely people living together, and their hedonistic lifestyle." The actress will be taking burlesque classes to prepare for the part. "Whatever happens, it isn't a strip, as in removing clothes. It's a tease," she added.

The official description of BRITTEN IN BROOKLYN reads: "The bohemian lifestyle of Benjamin Britten, WH Auden, Carson McCullers and Gypsy Rose Lee in the artistic community at 7 Middagh Street starts to unravel as World War II becomes a brutal reality. Exiled in America for his beliefs and a national disgrace, Benjamin Britten must decide which way his conflicted political ideals lie but the constant parties, doomed affairs and John Dunne, the mysterious stranger, provide an easy distraction."

Frost made her stage debut in Nicholas Hytner's 1984 production of MUMBO JUMBO in Manchester and more recently tread the boards in FOOL FOR LOVE opposite Carl Barat at Riverside Studios in 2010. She is known for her role as 'Lucy Westenra' in Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 film BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA. The actress has also appeared in many music videos and founded the fashion label FrostFrench in 1999.
