Nathaniel Parker Cast as 'Gordon Brown' Opposite Helen Mirren in THE AUDIENCE at Gielgud Theatre, Spring 2013

According to the Daily Mail, Nathaniel Parker has been cast as Gordon Brown opposite Helen Mirren as the Queen in Peter Morgan's play The Audience at the Gielgud Theatre. Preview performances begin Feb. 15, with the show's opening slated for March 5, and the run ending June 15, 2013.

Also newly announced are Rufus Wright as David Cameron and Michael Elwyn as Anthony Eden. The trio joins previously announced Haydn Gwynne as Margaret Thatcher, Robert Hardy as Winston Churchill and Paul Ritter as John Major.

Mirren won an Academy Award for her portrayal in the 2006 film The Queen, written by Peter Morgan. The Audience is also written by Morgan and will be directed by Stephen Daldry, with designer Bob Crowley. Matthew Byam Shaw, Robert Fox and Andy Harries produce.

Parker began his acting career with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), which he left in the late '80s. One of his most famous productions was The Merchant of Venice for The Phoenix Theatre and in New York, where it starred Dustin Hoffman. In 1999, Nat appeared again on stage in 50 Revolutions, which played at the Whitehall Theatre, London. In 2000 he appeared in Speed the Plow by David Mamet. He later starred in the lead role in Simon Gray's Quartermaine's Terms, which toured from May 2008 to June 2008. His TV credits include Merlin, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, The Proxy, Me and Mrs Jones and more. He has appeared on film in War Requiem, Stardust and more.
