Mack and Mabel, starring Michael Ball, cancelled its second performance at the Theatre Royal Plymouth due to what a spokesman called "a company bereavement".

Further details were not immediately available or confirmed by the company, but social media indicates that actor Alex Giannini, playing Mr Kleiman, has passed away.

Michael Ball has tweeted this morning:

@MackandMabelUK company have demonstrated such kindness, compassion, humanity and bravery. The show will go on. Our memories are strong. RIP

Mack and Mabel is on a UK tour following its run this summer at the Chichester Festival Theatre.
