peddling, written and performed by Harry Melling, and directed by the Artistic Director of HighTide Steven Atkinson, will receive its London premiere at the Arcola Theatre tonight 4th - 28th March 2015 following sold-out performances at HighTide Festival 2014 and 59E59, New York City.

going house to house,

door to door -

knock knocking -

professional doorstep hopping,

hoping that someone might show an interest.

The earth grumbles. Growling. Rising. The city street-lamps flicker up. We're in a field somewhere in London. A pedlar boy awakes lying on the grass, in his hand a firework. How did he get here? To answer that question, he must venture back to the very start via the doorsteps of privileged London and the cracks that swallow thousands of young Londoners every year.

Following Nick Payne's Incognito, I'm delighted to be bringing another hit to London following its premiere at HighTide Festival 2014. The Arcola has a sterling track record for supporting innovative work and new artists, which makes it perfect for Harry's debut play.(Steven Atkinson, Director and Artistic Director of HighTide Festival Theatre)

peddling is Harry's first play. His acting credits in theatre include: The Angry Brigade (Paines Plough/UK Tour); King Lear (Chichester Festival Theatre/BAM New York); The Hothouse, When Did You Last See My Mother? (both Trafalgar Studios); Smack Family Robinson(Rose Kingston Theatre); I Am a Camera (Southwark Playhouse); School For Scandal (Barbican Theatre/Holland Theatre Festival); Women Beware Women, Mother Courage and Her Children (both National Theatre). In television include: Joe Mistry (Pilot for Hartswood Films and ITV); Garrow's Law, Merlin, Just William and Friends and Crocodiles (all BBC). In film include: Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films (Warner Bros). Short film: The Winds of Change; I Think Therefore and Felicity.

HighTide will be staging a Gala Performance of peddling on Thursday 19th March where some of the proceeds will go to Kids Company's Playwriting and Performance course to help support vulnerable young people and their writing work. HighTide are pleased to have been associated with this course for the past two years.
