The Tony Award-winning revival of The Color Purple will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Upon closing, the production will have played 449 regular and 33 preview performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W 45th Street). A North American tour of the production will launch in the fall of 2017.

John Doyle's production of The Color Purple opened to rapturous reviews on December 10, 2015. The production went on to receive 2016 Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Musical and Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical (Cynthia Erivo). The musical also received Tony nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical (Danielle Brooks), and Best Direction of a Musical (John Doyle). The Color Purple also received the 2016 Drama League Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.

The production currently stars Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo, the "incandescent new star" (New York Times), whose performance is "one of the best theater-going experiences you will ever have," (NPR); Grammy and Tony Award winner Jennifer Holliday; and the Tony-nominated Danielle Brooks. The company of The Color Purple also includes Isaiah Johnson, Jennie Harney, Kyle Scatliffe, Phoenix Best, DWayne Clark, Lawrence Clayton, Carrie Compere, Patrice Covington, J. Daughtry, Adrianna Hicks, Bre Jackson, Grasan Kingsberry, Kevin Mambo, Ken Robinson, Antoine L. Smith, Carla R. Stewart, Akron Watson, and Rema Webb.

Ms. Brooks and Mr. Johnson will give their final performances as Sofia and Mister on November 13; Carrie Compere and Nathaniel Stampley will assume their roles on November 15.

THE COLOR PURPLE has scenic design by John Doyle, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design byJane Cox, sound design by Gregory Clarke, and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe. The Color Purple features music supervision by Catherine Jayes and Music Direction by Jason Michael Webb. Casting by Telsey + Company/Justin Huff, CSA.
