Aftert a popular appearance on "The Insider" back on June 22nd, Kathie Lee Gifford has been offered the job as special correspondant on "The Insider."  According to the trade journal "Broadcasting & Cable" she'll be covering Broadway and conduct interviews. Her schedule with "The Insider" will be flexible as to allow Gifford time to mount "Hurrican Amy" - her latest theaterical endeavor which begins rehearsals on Sept 6th.

Kathie Lee Gifford, on her official website states, "I will officially join the show when it premieres for its 2nd season on September 12th. As you know, I wasn't looking to come back to television on a regular basis, but Linda Bell Blue, the executive producer, approached me in June with the understanding that I could cover whatever I chose in the entertainment world. Obviously, I immediately chose theater! She agreed, and then requested that I also do their special interviews and premiere events. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how much I would enjoy it.

I never thought I'd feel this way again but I'm actually excited to be back. The past 5 years have been extraordinary professionally and personally and this new opportunity allows me to combine what I know—television—with what I'm passionate about—theater."

"Hurrican Amy" is a show being brought to the stage by Gifford and David Pomerantz with additional material is by David Friedman. The show is about the life of Aimee Semple McPherson and will run at the
White Plains Performing Arts Center from October 14-23rd.

About "Hurricane Amy"
Aimee Semple McPherson. A feminist who stood up against a male-dominated religious society! A famous defendant in the trial of the century! A free spirit who ignored the mores of her day and married three times! A beloved American treasure who mysteriously died. HURRICANE AIMEE is the true story of a woman from her humble Canadian upbringing to her dominance of religious and cultural society in the 1920's and '30's.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential people of the 20th Century, Aimee Semple McPherson remains today relatively unknown. Based on published material and personal interviews with her children, Gifford, with composers Pomeranz and Friedman, trace this powerful and magnetic woman's life from her birth in 1890, through her sad childhood in a "Salvation Army" family, to her religious conversion at 17, her widowhood at 19, her ascension to personal and spiritual power as the charismatic leader of the Four Square Gospel Church and, finally, to the tabloid headlines of her corruption trial and tragic accidental death in 1944. Who was Aimee Semple McPherson? A true woman of God or just one hell of a woman…or both?
