'Sex, Drugs, Clinton and Me' Plays at Kraine Theater Starting 10/14

By:

A man steals a credential, sneaks into the White House, and while there gets a job working as a volunteer, before becoming a homeless heroin addict, going to prison, and getting clean. Yes it is a true story.

Department of -E- Productions announces the production of the one man play-monologue: Sex, Drugs, Clinton & Me, at Manhattan’s Kraine Theater for a six week run beginning Tuesday, October 14th at 8:00PM. The performances will be held at The Kraine Theater located at 85 East 4th Street between 2nd Ave. and Bowery in New York City. Tickets are $15.00 and are available at www.Smarttix.com or by phone 212-868-4444.

Sex, Drugs, Clinton & Me is written and performed by former Bill Clinton presidential campaign employee and White House volunteer Michael Evans, and is directed by Kimothy Cruse.

The monologue, done in the style of Spalding Gray, intercuts stories from Evans’ wild sex and drug filled experiences on the first Bill Clinton presidential campaign with scenes of his homelessness and prison time, interwoven with powerful and poignant readings from Evans’ deceased mother’s diary. It correlates the rush of drugs with the rush of political power.

In 1993, after working in the national Bill Clinton presidential campaign headquarters, Evans, while working as a volunteer in the Old Executive Office Building next to the White House, stole a credential, snuck into the White House, and while there got a volunteer job working in the White House social office before battling drug addiction, homelessness, and prison, before finally getting clean in 2004.

Mike Evans has appeared in six Hollywood films. These include a major role with Oscar nominee Robert Downey Jr. in the political documentary, The Last Party. In addition, he has appeared in the films, Natural Born Killers by Oliver Stone, The War Room with James Carville, and Feed by Brian Springer. Mike Evans has over 20 years political campaign experience and was elected as a delegate at every stage of the 1992 presidential campaign. He then began a 10 year long history of drug addiction, homelessness, and prison. He got clean in 2004.

Director Kimothy Cruse has been a professional director, producer, and writer on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and in film and television for over forty years. On Broadway, he was the associate director for The Little Foxes with ElizaBeth Taylor. His Off-Broadway credits include, The Threepenny Opera and Portraits. His new adaptation of Diamond Lil by Mae West is scheduled for production during the 2009/2010 season.
