Andersen, Coulter & Di Pasqua Give 'Comfort,' 7/27 & 8/3
Tom Andersen, Scott Coulter and Tim Di Pasqua will perform their award-winning show, "Southern Comfort: A Down-Home Country Music Jamboree," on Friday, July 27, and Friday, Aug. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at The Metropolitan Room, 34 W. 22nd St., New York City. The trio will sing classic and contemporary country tunes, including hits by Vince Gill, George Jones, Alan Jackson, k.d. lang and Dolly Parton.
In April 2007, Andersen, Coulter and Di Pasqua received the Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Musical Group. And Grammy-winning country star Larry Gatlin presented them with the 2007 Nightlife Award for Outstanding Revue/Group at Town Hall. "Southern Comfort" premiered at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York City in August 2006. Andersen, Coulter and Di Pasqua will record their shows at the Metropolitan Room for a live CD. They'll be joined by Marc Daine (guitar), Tim Kiah (bass) and Dennis Lichtman (fiddle and mandolin); the latter two belong to the acclaimed bluegrass group Astrograss. Tom Andersen, a winner of five MAC Awards and five Bistro Awards, has headlined at Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall and the Algonquin, as well as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. He is a renowned songwriter ("Yard Sale," "Another Tuesday," which he co-wrote with Di Pasqua), and his tunes have been recorded and performed around the world. He has three CDs (Other Music) and has appeared Off-Broadway ("Cabariety").Scott Coulter is one of cabaret's most popular singers. He received both the 2001 MAC and Bistro Awards as Male Vocalist, as well as the 2003 MAC Award for Recording of the Year for his self-titled CD. Coulter has been a regular performer in Scott Siegel's "Broadway by the Year" series at Town Hall, and has toured extensively with Broadway's legendary composer Stephen Schwartz as a featured vocalist.
Tim Di Pasqua has won four Bistro Awards, including one for Outstanding Song ("One Thing"). He has performed across the country as a headliner and a singer-songwriter. His debut CD, "Monster Under These Conditions," received acclaim. His most recent recordings ("The Purpose of Love: Volumes I and II") are on Easter Records and include Alix Korey and Stephen Schwartz.
