Compelling, heart-wrenching, and thought-provoking. Stone's Throw Productions delves into the complexities of motherhood, marriage and infidelity in this searing drama by Toronto playwright Jordi Mand. What begins as an ordinary parent teacher interview unravels into a gripping and raw confrontation between two women on the brink of disaster. One woman is fighting to protect her family. The other is fighting for the family she always wanted. A roller coaster ride about love, betrayal, and right versus wrong.

The play examines the role of a working mother and the modern family. A young woman herself, Mand has deftly captured the tension women feel today as they balance financial and societal pressures to have a career and be highly educated, while also managing a household as a doting mother and loving wife. The play also explores the murky waters of parenting a child with behavioral challenges as Marion must decide whether or not to have her son tested and risk labelling and therefore stigmatising him. Between the Sheets invites the audience to sit ringside in a match between two very human women and judge for themselves where their allegiance lies.

Between the Sheets showcases current Pacific Theatre apprentice Danielle Klaudt and TriniTy Western professor Kerri Norris. Local director and co-artistic producer of Delinquent Theatre, Laura McLean's past projects include STATIONARY: a Recession Era Musical, Never the Last (Delinquent) and Little One (Brewery Theatre, Bristol). She holds a Masters degree in Directing from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and a Bachelor's of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre from UBC. She can't wait to work on this script: "It's not often you read a script for two such powerhouse women as Between the Sheets so that really excites me. These are two complex, flawed individuals who are both trying their best as they collide with each other and breakdown as a result. These characters are both immensely relatable, each in their own way, and watching them come into conflict with each other is satisfying and compelling."
