TwentySomething Productions Presents European Premiere of 6: A New Musical, 27-28 July
Ever wondered how your life could be affected by someone you've never even met? This new musical charts the individual stories of six New Yorkers as they intertwine and influence each other in profound and unexpected ways. Featuring an eclectic score blending elements of rock, pop, gospel, and contemporary theatre sounds.
6 - a new musical with book, music and lyrics by Zack Zadek (additional lyrics by Gina DePalo), will receive its European premiere at the Space on North Bridge, Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014 with previews at London Theatre Workshop 27th - 28th July. Zack is one of America's youngest and most promising composers having 6 - a new musical selected by New York Musical Theatre Festival and featured in 2012. He was soon after invited to perform a solo concert at NYCs famous Joe's Pub. In January 2014 TwentySomething produced Zack's UK debut concert featuring some of London's finest voices.
"I think musical theatre needs to unite more closely with other forms of music and storytelling. I yearn for the days when songs from a musical would be charting across America, performed by the biggest artists in the world... My 'mission statement' as a writer is to try and break down some of the gaps between musical theatre, contemporary pop music, some of the narrative aesthetics in modern filmmaking." - Zack Zadek, Playbill.com.
"Twenty Something Productions are a young, dynamic company with a passion for new writing. It is important to support companies who pioneer this and the future of musical theatre." - Katy Lipson, Aria Entertainment.
Founded in 2010, TwentySomething Productions are advocates for contemporary, American musical theatre writing who work closely with SMASH composer Drew Gasparini on ThePlatformLDN concert series. ThePlatformLDN will also be featured at the SpaceCabaret @ 54 this year, featuring music by up and coming NYC composers and a variety of Fringe participants and visiting artists. In 2013 they staged Kerrigan-Lowdermilk's Tales From the Bad Years at London's Landor Theatre as part of the Page to Stage new writing festival.
