Theatre of the Damned Brings AS YE SOW to Edinburgh Fringe, Aug 1-27

AS YE SOW By Stewart Pringle, directed by Tom Richards, plays previews at The Pleasance Dome for Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Aug 1-3, and continues Aug 4-27 (no show on the 13th), 2012. All performances play at 12 p.m.

As Ye Sow received universal critical acclaim as one of four short plays in Theatre of the Damned’s Revenge of the Grand Guignol (2011); this all new version expands and exploits the themes of dementia and unreliable memory to develop a world of fear, guilt and supernatural horror. A modern ghost story which blends the traditions of M R James with 21st century technological horror, As Ye Sow is a moving, blackly comic and often terrifying new drama.

Clifford moulders away in a home for the elderly, with visits from his daughter his only point of contact with the outside world. The television is on the blink, the staff are interfering and his favourite son is too busy to call. When his daughter announces her plans to sell off part of the family farm, dangerous memories are excavated, tormenting Clifford with a secret he had hoped was long buried in the past.

As Ye Sow is developed by acclaimed horror theatre company Theatre of the Damned in collaboration with Bare Bawds productions, and features the cast of the 2010 Edinburgh Festival Fringe hit Bright is the Ring of Words.
