Sell A Door Theatre Company are proud to announce the launch of the Greenwich Young Writers Programme.

This exciting new programme will invite ten young people aged 16-25 from the borough of Greenwich to enroll in a ten-month programme of development. Participants will learn skills in writing and producing theatre, visit a variety of theatrical productions across London, and take part in workshops led by talented emerging playwrights. The course will culminate in each participant producing a ten-minute piece of drama inspired by the borough, to be directed and performed by professional theatre-makers at the Greenwich Theatre in Autumn 2016.

Sell A Door hopes that the programme will create a legacy of new work for, by, and about the people of Greenwich, and help fuel the next generation of playwrights from the capital.

Co-funded by the Greenwich Council, the course will be coordinated by Anna Fox, and led by Sell A Door's playwright-in-residence, Fulbright Scholar Carolyn Kras.

Anna Fox, Creative and Learning Director at Sell A Door says, "This programme is something that we at Sell A Door have been working towards for a long time. We pride ourselves on our outreach work with young people, and have a strong belief in the ability of theatre to empower and inspire. Greenwich is a fascinating and diverse borough with a rich history that Sell A Door is proud to call home. We are delighted to be able to offer young people from Greenwich the chance to learn more about creating theatre of their own whilst having the chance to tell their story on a professional stage."

David Hutchinson, Artistic Director, says: "We are delighted to be supporting the next generation of young writers in our home borough of Greenwich, having commissioned and developed new writing for years with regional theatres across the UK. The Greenwich Young Writers Group will give a platform for new voices on UK stages, and the course run by Carolyn and Anna promises to offer the participants a diverse and varied insight into the processes behind developing new dramatic work for stages in the UK."
