On Thursday 1st May 2014 PILOT Nights, the region's best loved work-in-progress performance platform, is teaming up with Birmingham Hippodrome and Independent Outdoor Arts Producer Lou Lomas to present the first ever PILOT Sites.

Theatre Makers from the West Midlands and beyond currently working in outdoor or alternative spaces will present a new idea in a range of sites across Southside Business Improvement District, each performance a 5 minute walk from Birmingham Hippodrome. This is the first time PILOT Nights has presented a showcase specifically for outdoors and sited work .It has been created in response to growth in Artists working in the outdoor arts sector and making site specific work across the West Midlands.

PILOT Nights has been running successfully in the region for the past ten years, providing a space where theatre-makers can develop their work and try out new ideas in front of a lively and supportive crowd; the pieces presented are all works-in-progress. Open to artists from across the UK, PILOT Nights take place in venues across the West Midlands. Each event is programmed and managed by a Co-Pilot, in conjunction with the core PILOT Nights team. Co-Pilots are practising artists with an interest in producing/curating. Having a different Co-Pilot for each event ensures the programme remains diverse and exciting, and places artists at the heart of PILOT Nights. Previous Co-PILOTs and venues include Stan's Café, Kiruna Stamell, Birmingham REP and RSC.

'PILOT Nights opened The Rep up to a range of high quality work, vivid voices and artists who, thanks to Pilot, we are now working with on a more permanent basis.' - Tessa Walker, Associate Director, Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
