Due to investment money from China being tied up in international banking red tape, there has been a delay to the opening of THE GOLDEN VOICE, a new British musical by singer-songwriter Nick Fogarty. The musical was originally planned to preview from tonight, Wednesday 12 June, and open on 19 June, but will now open at the Arts Theatre on Friday 26 July, previewing from 17 July. The limited season is still due to end on Saturday 31 August.

General Manager, Julian Stoneman said, "New musicals all bring their own individual set of challenges, but now we have the green light from the producer's international bank, the cast and crew are raring to go. The set is looking spectacular and I am truly excited about what the next couple of months will bring for Mr Fogarty's production."

The musical will star Darren Day as fame hungry singer Mike Chariot, who betrays his best friend and abandons his childhood sweetheart to win the nation's favourite talent show 'The Golden Voice'. He quickly realises he is merely a puppet for the record company and television executives. Too famous to return to his old life, he decides to disappear. After a brief media frenzy, the machine moves on and he is all but forgotten. Almost 20 years on, a wiser Mike Chariot is back to make amends and help young singers and musicians achieve their dreams without having to enter television talent shows. However his noble quest will bring him back in contact with his embittered former best friend Jim Ryan, who descended into a life of crime after Chariot's departure from their band caused it to break up. Jim now has the power to exact his revenge.

The musical also stars Sebastian Torkia, Yvette Robinson, George Maguire and Natalie McQueen, with Daniel Robinson, Nina French, Joe Sterling, Imogen Brooke, Patrick Burbridge, Sarah Goggin, Tom Newman, Jason Gray, Stephie Crocker and Joseph Claus.

THE GOLDEN VOICE will be directed by Guy Retallack, with choreography by Jordi Guitart, set and costumes by James Turner, lighting by Richard Williamson and sound by Chris Full. Tom Turner will be musical director and Matthew Brind orchestrator and musical arranger, with musical supervision by Nick Fogarty.

THE GOLDEN VOICE will be produced in London by Rob Hewitt and Nick Fogarty for Abbey Investments (Golden Voice) Limited.
