Islington's Old Red Lion Theatre today announces the next batch of shows for its Spring/Summer 2015 season, combining high quality revivals of rarely seen 20thcentury classics with stunning new writing.

The season opens with the brief return of Eddie Elks' (described by Matt Trueman as 'one of the most distinctive voices around') critically acclaimed surreal comedyMUGS ARROWS, last seen at the Old Red Lion Theatre in 2014, as it departs for a UK tour.

This is followed by a triple-bill of ACT WITHOUT WORDS I , CATASTROPHE andROUGH FOR THEATRE II by Samuel Beckett, presented by award-winning company Whispering Beasts.

Aria Entertainment will be bringing a double-bill of shows to the Old Red in May, starting with the first musical staged in the theatre for many years, the World Premiere of Andy Collyer's THE VERB, TO LOVE, a story of falling in love and love falling apart, as well as a rare revival of Marina Carr's yearning classic PORTIA COUGHLAN, last seen at the Royal Court on its debut in 1996.

Our second World Premiere lands in June with writer Tim Foley's full-length London debut THE DOGS OF WAR, a story of invisible dogs, fracturing family and the arrival of Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile. Presented by the acclaimed team behind 2013's sell-out revival of The Fastest Clock in the Universe.

We're also looking ahead to August where Proud Haddock productions present the rare chance to see two early Noel Coward one-act comedies in A NAUGHTY NIGHT WITH NOEL COWARD, presenting new productions of "The Better Half" and "We Were Dancing".

"I'm thrilled to be announcing another fantastic run of work at the Old Red Lion. We're reviving some classic pieces which haven't been seen in the UK for decades, including a critically under-produced play by the awesome Marina Carr, and working with companies with the visual ambition to match the brilliance of their texts. We've also got the first musical we've had at the Old Red in many years, and it's a great new piece. As well as that it feels like a total coup to have the first Tim Foley full-length here, and with such a great team behind it. I don't think anyone who sees Dogs of War is going to have any doubt that he's a major new talent. Cry havoc." - Stewart Pringle, Artistic Director
