Duncan Burt to Star in Assembled Junk Productions' LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS; Cast Announced!

Following their critically acclaimed inaugural and sold out production of Spring Awakening in April this year, Assembled Junk Productions have announced the cast for their forthcoming three week professional fringe production of Alan Menkin and Howard Ashman's cult classic musical Little Shop of Horrors, running Tuesday 3rd - Sunday 22nd of December 2013, with press night slated for Thursday 5th December at 7:00pm.

Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy horror musical about a hapless florist shop worker (Seymour) who raises a plant (Audrey II) that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s Rock'n'Roll, Doo-Wop and early Mowtown includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, 'Skid Row (Downtown)', 'Somewhere That's Green' and 'Suddenly, Seymour'.

Taking on the lead role of Seymour will be recent Arden School of Acting graduate Duncan Burt, he will be joined by Laura Harrison a previous finalist in the Stephen Sondheim Performer of the Year competition as love interest Audrey. Manchester based actor Richard Sails will take on the role of Mr Mushnik the aging florist, whilst National Youth Theatre Alumnus David Grant will take on the role of the sadist dentist Orin and provide the voice of the alien plant Audrey II. The company is completed with Ryan Kay (Male Ensemble and Audrey II Puppeteer), Christina Meehan (Chiffon), Paida Noel (Crystal), Francesca Swarbrick (Ronette), Oliver Yank (Male Ensemble). The Production will be directed by James Baker, with musical direction by Austin Fitzsimmons and produced by Suzanne Linford for Assembled Junk Productions.

Little Shop of Horrors is the second production by Assembled Junk to re-imagine the theatrical space above the Salfordian pub, and will also mark the debut production for James Baker as Artistic Director of King's Arms Theatre a position he has recently taken up. The space has had a turbulent past, but James has a unique vision for turning the space into the best fringe theatre in Greater Manchester.

"It's our intention to show Manchester what can be achieved with artistry and sheer hard work. Venues like The Landor in London prove this. I am delighted at being offered and taking up the position of Artistic Director of The King's Arms, and I am already planning my first season of productions for the venue. Little Shop of Horrors marks the first show to be officially programmed. The King's Arms is currently undergoing refurbishment which will secure the venue as one of the best and adaptable spaces in the region and I look forward to welcoming people to the re-launched space in November."

Tickets for the show are already on sale with some performances on very limited availability - patrons are urged to book quickly as previous production Spring Awakening sold out before the show opened
