Casting has been announced for Pocket Dream, a sixty minute version of Propeller's critically-acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Darrell Brockis, James Tucker, Matthew McPherson and Lewis Hart will all revisit their roles from the 2013/14 tour, joined by Propeller stalwart Finn Hanlon and newcomer Antony Jardine. The production will be directed by Edward Hall.

Propeller's 60-minute version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will begin its UK tour at the E M Forster Theatre in Tonbridge on 8 September, touring to schools, theatres and other venues around the country until November.

Pocket Dream is a revival of the first ever production in the Pocket Propeller initiative, which began in 2009 and is designed to provide the perfect introduction to Shakespeare for young people. Previous Pocket Propeller shows have included Pocket Comedy (a version of The Comedy of Errors), Pocket Merchant (The Merchant of Venice) and Pocket Henry V.

Propeller's award-winning production of A Midsummer Night's Dream has played to packed houses around the world. Love and illusion collide in Shakespeare's most magical play, when two pairs of lovers become entangled in fairy mischief on the eve of a Royal Wedding. Dreams and reality become interchangeable within the romantic chaos that ensues, and misplaced passions are ignited as appearances become ever more deceptive.

Pocket Propeller is the ideal introduction not only to Shakespeare, but also to the thrill and excitement of theatre. It aims to deliver a first class theatrical experience in a compact but uncompromised 60 minutes. The ensemble creates a relaxed and engaging atmosphere in which to enjoy the performance, as well encouraging the audience to give a frank and uninhibited response in an open talkback session afterwards.

A free Pocket Dream education pack is available to download at: www.propeller.org.uk.

PROPELLER seeks to find a more engaging way of expressing Shakespeare and to more completely explore the relationship between text and performance. Mixing a rigorous approach to the text with a modern physical aesthetic, they have been influenced by mask work, animation and classic and modern film and music from all ages. Productions are directed by Edward Hall and designed by Michael Pavelka. Propeller has toured internationally to Australia, Bangladesh, China, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey and the USA.

In September 2012, Propeller launched Propeller Play - a unique, interactive microsite designed to enhance the Propeller experience, taking users "backstage" to discover more about the company. Propeller Play can be found at propeller.org.uk/play. The website has separate areas dedicated to Sound & Lighting, Music, Acting, Directing, Costume, Design and Production, as well as an Out-Takes section. For educational groups, it is the ideal accompaniment to a visit to the theatre, allowing pupils to learn more about the process of putting together a production and the various roles involved.
