Benedict Cumberbatch to Lead Lyndsey Turner's HAMLET at Barbican Theatre, August 2015

Lyndsey Turner's production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, with Benedict Cumberbatch playing the title role, will begin performances at the Barbican Theatre on 5 August 2015, with opening night on 25 August at 7pm. The twelve week limited run will conclude on 31 October 2015. Set design is by Es Devlin. Further casting and details for this production will be announced at a later date. Hamlet will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.

The 12.14 Foundation will be producing two shows for its summer season incorporating 200 children from the Newtown-area as a continuation of its mission to promote personal development through high-level performing arts programs. The first show A ROCKIN' Midsummer Night's Dream, a world premiere adaptation of one of Shakespeare's favorite plays will be performed tonight, August 1st, through August 10th.

The Old Globe to Launch Free San Diego Tour of ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL This Fall

The Old Globe today announced the creation of an exciting new producing platform, Globe for All. This free-of-charge tour of a professional production of Shakespeare will allow the theatre to serve more communities throughout San Diego by collaborating with a diverse range of local organizations. Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will direct the first production, Shakespeare's fascinating romance All's Well That Ends Well. He plans to cast local professional actors, including recent graduates of the Old Globe/University of San Diego M.F.A. Program in classical acting. The first Globe for All free Shakespeare tour will begin October 28 and will culminate in three low-cost performances in the Globe's Hattox Hall November 7-9.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's 2014 Free Shakespeare in the Park Tour Kicks Off Today

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company has announced the 2014 FREE Shakespeare in the Park Tour presented by PNC! This year's tour is bigger than ever with 26 performances of 'Macbeth' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' throughout the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area at local community parks and venues. These performances are FREE and open to the public! 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' is directed by CSC Ensemble Member Nicholas Rose and 'Macbeth' is directed by CSC Ensemble Member Miranda McGee. The cast features six actors from CSC Resident Ensemble. Following the Park Tour, these shows will travel and tour to local schools, community centers, venues and other performing arts locations through May 2015. Last year, CSC's FREE Shakespeare in the Park tour had over 7,000 people in attendance!
