Artistic Director GENE FRANKLIN SMITH and MALIBU PLAYHOUSE present a limited engagement of PALMER DAVIS's hit show SUBURBAN SHOWGIRL opening November 22 and running until December 1. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $30 and may be purchased through the box office online at www.malibuplayhouse.org/night-dave or by calling (323) 960-7711. Malibu Playhouse is located at 29243 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265 (near Zuma beach, between Kanan-Dume Road and Morning View Drive, near Heathercliff Road).

Suitable for all ages, Suburban Showgirl is an inspirational one-woman tour de force written by and starring Palmer Davis about "Wendy Walker" - wife, mother of two, and professional dancer - whose life is not turning out quite the way she had hoped. While working as a magician's assistant in Las Vegas, a backstage mishap forces Wendy to re-evaluate her life. Through music and dance, Wendy relives pivotal moments of how she coped with the unpredictable demands of career and family, leading to a life-changing decision.

Director Cate Caplin has produced, directed and choreographed over 200 productions and her work has been seen on television, in films, music videos, commercials and in theatrical venues worldwide from the Paris Opera House to the Broadway Stage. Cate has been the recipient of a Garland Award, a Women In Theatre Red Carpet Award, multiple LA Stage Alliance Ovation and Scenie Awards and an Award of Excellence from the LA Film Commission.

The original music for Suburban Showgirl is composed and performed by award-winning musical director and pianist Ross K?lling. Founding Director of Music Curriculum at the Academy of New Musical Theatre, Ross has received Dramalogue awards for his musical direction of FATE's productions of Marat/Sade and Threepenny Opera.

"Palmer is a Broadway-caliber performer," says Artistic Director Gene Franklin Smith, "and she brings her beautifully realized characters to life with true heart and soul. Every parent will empathize with Palmer's plight of juggling play dates and soccer games while trying to live out her dream."
