Kiwanis and Imagination Theater Bring the Community Together

Over the past two years Imagination Theater has partnered with the Placerville Kiwani's Club to reach out to local families in the community. On December 11th, a special, private showing of A Little Princess, was held for groups from New Morning Shelter, CASA El Dorado, Family Connections, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

During intermission, Santa took a break from his Christmas preparations at the North Pole and paid a visit to the children. Co-owners of the theater, Lanny Langston and Peter Wolfe, commented, "We are happy to be able to support families who may not otherwise be able to see a play." This musical has a wonderful message about the value and worth of a person by who they are inside and not their outer circumstances. It also captures the special bond between Sara (The Little Princess) and Becky, the house servant at Ms. Minchin's school. "We've had so much fun working on this play and I think it shows!" A Little Princess runs through the December 23 and is suitable for the whole family. This engaging musical adaptation is based on the classic novel, A Little Princess, by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Tickets are $10-$17 and can be purchased online at or through the box office at (530) 642-0404. Online ticket sales now include credit card, wheelchair, and group orders. Thursday, Friday shows are at 7:00 p.m. with matinees at 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Imagination Theater, located on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, brings quality, live, local community theater to Placerville and El Dorado County.
