The collaboration between Sichuan Province's Leshan Dance Company, Melbourne Arts Festival and Christchurch Arts Festival pairs traditional Chinese dance and culture with contemporary dance to explore the human response to the earthquakes that changed China's Sichuan Province and New Zealand's Christchurch in FAULT LINES.

The earthquake on Monday 12 May 2008, 80 km west north-west of Chengdu in the Sichuan Province of China killed 69,197 people with the 8.0Ms/7.9Mw tremors that hit at 2:28pm. It is listed as the 21st deadliest earthquake of all time.

The 6.3ML earthquake that hit 10km south east of Christchurch in New Zealand on Tuesday 22nd February 2011, killing 185 people and becoming listed as the second deadliest natural disaster in New Zealand.

The fear, trauma and loss of loved ones and destruction of inner peace is expressed by Sara Brodie (New Zealand Choreographer) and the Leshan Song & Dance Troupe from Chinese Sichuan Province as they seek to capture the emotions that residents of these two regions felt in the aftermath of these events and pay tribute to the strength shown in adversity.
