Since 1960, the National Theatre School of Canada (NTS) has been recognized as a leading institution for anyone wishing to pursue a career as a playwright, director, actor, set and costume designer, or production professional. The NTS is unique: it offers high-level training programs in all aspects of the theatre arts, in both French and English. Many of its 2,000 graduates are among the country’s most active and versatile artists and designers. The mission of the NTS is to contribute to the recognition, flourishing and development of the highest universal standards of theatre arts and practice by training professionals in all disciplines in a national school that is co-lingual, diverse and open to Canadian society and the world.

National Theatre School of Canada Receives Historic $1.5M Donation from The Slaight Family Foundation

This initiative by the National Theatre School of Canada (NTS) will provide $60,000 in support to emerging artists (as 80 grants of $750), who are facing increased financial precariousness due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Nightwood Theatre Announces Andrea Donaldson As Artistic Director

Nightwood Theatre's Board of Directors are thrilled to announce Andrea Donaldson as the new Artistic Director. With nearly 20 years of professional experience, Andrea has been a vibrant presence in Toronto's theatre scene. She has worked as a playwright, actor, and producer but most significantly she has focused her career on Directing and Artistic Direction with a strong emphasis on new play development and nurturing women's voices. Andrea will assume her new role in May 2019. Kelly Thornton will remain Artistic Director until April 30, 2019.
