World-renowned violinist Hezron Chetty will be doing a unique show of live music and storytelling at the Alexander Bar's Upstairs Theatre this May. TALES FROM THE VIOLIN is an hour-long new age instrumental show, during which Chetty will be joined on stage by Jeanré Leo on drums and CJ Duckitt on bass.

Chetty and the band will perform songs from his latest album mixed with stories from his musical travels. This show is a look into the life of a traveling musician, which can be fun, sad and sometimes just plain weird. Chetty will also reminisce about the interesting people that he has met on his travels around the world. Audiences may expect a night that will take them on a journey around Europe, India and Africa, immersing themselves through Chetty's experiences with different cultures and other creative musicians.

Hailng from Cape Town, songwriter-violinist Chetty performs the violin through a loop station. His style is fresh and his progressive approach to instrumental music has captured the attention of the music scene, both locally and abroad.

TALES FROM THE VIOLIN will be performed on 22 May at 19:00, with tickets costing R70-R80. Bookings can be made online at the Alexander Bar's website or purchased at the bar. For telephone bookings, call 021 300 1652. Alexander Bar & Café is situated at 76 Strand Street in the Cape Town city centre and can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
