Eighty-eight-year-old Simone Forti, watched by livestream as a restaged tribute of her iconic works was performed at The Watermill Center, where she was honored on July 29th.

As BroadwayWorld sadly reported yesterday, stage star Phyllis Newman passed away yesterday, September 15, at the age of 86. Newman got her start in show business at 4 years old imitating Carmen Miranda in theatres and clubs. Her portrayal of Martha Vail in the Jule Styne/Comden and Green musical Subways Are For Sleeping - costumed only in a bath towel - earned her a Tony Award. Her other Broadway credits include Bells Are Ringing, The Apple Tree, On the Town, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, Awake and Sing, Wish You Were Here, First Impressions, and her one-woman musical The Madwoman of Central Park West, which she co-authored with Arthur Laurents. She garnered a Tony Award nomination for her highly-acclaimed performance in Neil Simon's Broadway Bound.

SIR IVAN has released a new (EDM) electronic dance music version of John Lennon's 'Imagine' to help victims of PTSD.

Yank! tells the story of Stu, a Midwestern kid who gets drafted for World War II in 1943, and becomes a reporter for Yank Magazine, the journal 'for the servicemen, by the servicemen.' Yank! has a score that pays homage to the 1940s and explores what it means to be a man, and what it is to fall in love and struggle. Intelligent and impassioned, suffused with songs in swing, big band and boogie-woogie styles, the show explores the stories that don't get told in wartime, and how WWII became a great catalyst in bringing gay men and women together. Tony Winner Dan Fogler premiered his directing debut at the Tribeca Film Festival last week. The movie, Hysterical Psycho, is a spoof of cabin in the woods movies, made with his theater group, Stage 13.

Today, Monday 23 June 2008, thirteen year-old Fox Jackson-Keen will make his West End Stage debut in the title role in the multi-award winning Billy Elliot the Musical.

Last night 12 May Billy Elliot the Musical celebrated its 3rd Birthday in the West End, Director Stephen Daldry and the London Company were joined on stage by the Broadway Billys at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

Sara Jean Ford performed her cabaret show 'It's About Time' as a benefit of BC/EFA on January 2nd at Davenport's in Chicago. The show was produced and directed by 'Jersey Boys' Drew Gehling and featured the music of Will Reynolds and Eric Price.

On October 23rd at 9:30PM, at Joe's Pub, Broadway favorite and New Orleans resident, Bryan Batt hosted a concert benefiting the victims of Hurricane Katrina. With Love, From Broadway to the Bayou's proceeds went to The Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana.

Theatreworks/USA held their annual gala benefit at The Hudson Theater on October 24th and BroadwayWorld.com was there.

The 19th Annual Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction was held on Sunday, September 25 in Shubert Alley. The Flea Market raised a grand total of $544,037 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Lennon opened on Sunday, August 14th and BroadwayWorld was out on the red carpet to capture all the celebrity arrivals!
