As BroadwayWorld sadly reported yesterday, Thomas Meehan, who is best known for his books of such classics as Annie, The Producers and Hairspray, has passed away at 88 years old.

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDC Foundation), the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), hosted its star-studded 'Mr. Abbott' Award Gala honoring Kenny Leon at espace in New York City yesterday, March 27. Tudo E Jazz - Um Tributo Musical a Kander & Ebb (And the World Goes 'Round - the Songs of Kander & Ebb) debuts at Sao Paulo stage. The show, which brings together renowned names in the cast, is a tribute to the great musicals of the duo John Kander & Fred Ebb, successful Broadway composers, responsible for creating Chicago, Cabaret, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and the great musical hit 'New York, New York', immortalized in the voices of Liza Minelli and Frank Sinatra.

On August 22nd from 2PM to 4:30PM in New York City, Robert Peterpaul Productions produced a special 'Musical Theatre Audition Technique Class with Marissa Perry.' The event was a part of RPP's 'Personable', a series of workshops that aims to assist aspiring talent in honing their craft and polishing their audition skills.

As BroadwayWorld reported over the weekend, Anne Meara passed away on Saturday. She was 85. Meara appeared in five Broadway shows and was Tony-nominated for her performance as Marthy Owen in ANNA CHRISTIE in 1992, opposite Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of acclaimed director, producer, writer, and performer Mike Nichols, who passed away on Wednesday evening at age 83. Moonlight Stage Productions' 33rd summer season continues with the Broadway hit YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, presented professionally for the first time in Southern California, with performances now through September 7. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, based on the hilarious 1974 film by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder that spoofed the horror film genre, opened on Broadway in 2007 and toured the U.S. in 2009. 3-D Theatricals' final show of the 2012 season is the Tony Award-winning musical HAIRSPRAY, featuring choreography by Dana Solimando, musical direction by Allen Everman, and directed by 3-D Theatricals Executive Producer and Artistic Director T.J. Dawson. HAIRSPRAY opened on Saturday, October 13 and performed through Sunday, October 28 at the historic Plummer Auditorium, 201 E. Chapman Ave. in Fullerton. HAIRSPRAY then traveled across town to perform at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd., for three performances only, ending today, November 4.
