Abingdon Theatre Company - which has produced more than 80 new American plays in its 21-year history -celebrated its 2013-14 Season with ABINGDON: SWINGING ON A STAR, its Annual Benefit Gala and dinner, on Monday night at Espace (635 West 42nd Street in Manhattan). Jan Buttram's LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE swept the recent 6th Annual Ab*ie Award ceremony garnering seven of the eight awards. Voted outstanding play, LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE also took bows for outstanding male actor (Peter Brouwer) and direction, Kate Bushmann. Outstanding design awards went to Andrew Lu (set), Travis McHale (lighting), Catherine Siracusa and Sidney Levitt (co-costume design), and David M. Lawson (sound). The fabulous Lypsinka, Tony Award-winner Alan Cumming (CABARET, 'The Good Wife'), and Tony nominees Alison Fraser (SECRET GARDEN, ROMANCE/ROMANCE) and Andrew Rannells (BOOK OF MORMON) all made appearances at Abingdon Theatre Company's 19th Annual Benefit Gala yesterday, October 24 at Espace, honoring Charles Busch, Julie Halston and Timothy P. Speiss. Beth Leavel, a Tony winner for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE emceed the gala. Carl Andress, who helmed Busch's THE DIVINE SISTER, THE THIRD STORY, DIE MOMMIE DIE! and SHANGHAI MOON, directed.

Signature Theatre Company announced yesterday seven productions for its inaugural 2012 season at Signature Center, the company's new Frank Gehry-designed permanent home opening in February 2012. Signature Center will allow the Company to expand its programming, introduce new initiatives, and build audiences. Featuring three intimate theatres, a Studio Theatre, rehearsal studio and a shared lobby with café and bookstore, Signature Center will be both a theatre community hub and a neighborhood destination.

Eric McCormack, Emmy Award winner for 'Will & Grace,' will play El Gallo, Lucas Grabeel from 'High School Musical' will play Matt, and Broadway star and Tony nominee Harry Groener will play Bellomy in 'The Fantasticks,' which concludes the 2008-2009 Reprise Theatre Company at the Freud Playhouse May 5-May 17 (press opening May 6).

The Canadian Stage Company wraps its 2008.2009 season with Doubt, a parable, the award-winning play that's taken North America by storm. The production stars Canadian theatre icons Seana McKenna (Canadian Stage's The Clean House, Wit) and David Storch (Canadian Stage's Frost/Nixon and director of Palace of the End), and is helmed by renowned director Marti Maraden (Canadian Stage's Trying). The world premiere of Keith Bridges stunning new play LIE WITH ME will be launched by Mutineer Theatre Company, the newest performing arts venture in Los Angeles, on March 7, 2009. This inaugural production for the company will be directed by Joe Banno, and will run at the Art/Works Theatre through April 5, 2009.
