Sweet Charity Photos - Off-Broadway

Today, on April 24th, Waitress celebrates the third anniversary since officially opening on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in 2016. The Broadway company celebrated yesterday with a special cake by the show's own Pie Consultant, Stacy Donnelly of Cute as Cake.

REPRISE 2.0 (led by Producing Artistic Director Marcia Seligson), in association with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Department of Theater (UCLA TFT) chaired by Brian Kite, presents its inaugural production of Sweet Charity.  Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall with musical direction by Gerald Sternbach, the classic Broadway hit plays through July 1 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Porchlight Music Theatre announces the Chicago premiere of the Broadway musical The Scottsboro Boys, February 3 - March 12, featuring music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, book by David Thompson, direction by Samuel G. Roberson, Jr, music direction by Doug Peck and choreography by Florence Walker-Harris with Breon Arzell as associate choreographer, at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. The performance schedule is Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There is an added matinee performance Thursday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. NOTE: *There are no Thursday 7:30 p.m. performances February 9 and March 2. Tickets for previews are $38 and for the regular run $45 - $51. Starring Michael Carrasco (North American Tour, Grease!), Rachel Pallante (The Vortex, The Tempest), Polly Seale (Radio City Music National Tour, The Wizard of Oz), Michael Marchese (TexARTS' My Way A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra), Kami Smith (Austin Shakespeare, As You Like It), Kristi King (Doctuh Mistuh Productions, Reefer Madness), Curt Olson (TexARTS, Guys and Dolls), Russel Taylor (St. George's Theatre, London, Romeo and Juliet), Daniel Cline (Austin Theatre Project, The Rocky Horror Show), and Toni Baker. All Shook Up runs August 12 - 21 at the Kam and James Morris Theatre.

American Theater Company (ATC) opens musical comedy Xanadu, the final production of its Legacy Season, this Sunday, June 5. Presented as a tribute to ATC's late Artistic Director PJ Paparelli-a not-so-secret fan of this camp classic-Xanadu is directed by Lili-Anne Brown and runs at ATC now through July 17, 2016. The production has music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar and a book by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the 1980 Universal Pictures film of the same title.

Denver Center for the Performing Arts announces the 2016 recipients for The Bobby G Awards, a regional awards program for The National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Charlotte Movizzoand Curtis Salinger, the 2016 Bobby G Award recipients of the Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, progress to represent Colorado atThe National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Charlotte Movizzo played Charity Hope Valentine in Ponderosa High School's production of Sweet Charity. Curtis Salinger played Emmett Forrest in Durango High School's production of Legally Blonde.
