On Day 23 of 30 Days of Tony, we're taking a trip to Florence, Italy with one of this year's nominees for Best Score, Adam Guettel, who picked up his first nomination and win for the score of The Light In the Piazza.

Atticus Finch might be the voice we remember from To Kill a Mockingbird- the classic story that Aaron Sorkin brought to Broadway this season- but Adam Guettel is the man who made Mockingbird sing. The Broadway composer traded musical theatre for drama this season as he created the score for the critically-praised hit. Below, Guettel tells us all about how he found the sound of the play, and shares an exclusive clip from the To Kill a Mockingbird score.

The world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will begin preview performances tomorrow, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). The new musical will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. Happy Birthday, Adam Guettel! Adam Guettel is an American composer-lyricist of musical theater and opera. He is best known for the musical "The Light in the Piazza," for which he won two Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Orchestrations, and two Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and Best Orchestrations. His early works include 1996's "Floyd Collins," "Love's Fire," and "Saturn Returns." Guettel's songs have been recorded by such artists as Audra McDonald and Brian d'Arcy James. He also contributed original scores to several documentary films, including "Arguing the World and Jack: The Last Kennedy Film." In 1999, he performed a concert evening of his own work at New York's Town Hall.
