As BroawayWorld previously reported, beginning performances on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, Willemijn Verkaik will make her Broadway debut as Elphaba in the blockbuster musical WICKED. An award-winning actress who has performed the role for more than 1,000 performances in Germany and Holland, Ms. Verkaik will perform the role for a special 15-week engagement. She is currently headlining the Dutch production of WICKED and will play her final performance there on January 11, 2013.

On hand to pay tribute to Oprah in her second to last episode today, was Broadway favorite Kristin Chenoweth, who led a performance of Wicked's For Good. As she performed, nearly 300 Morehouse College scholarship students, endorced by Oprah in one of her many charity endeavors, walked the aisles of the United Center where the event was being filmed. After breaking box office records and selling out in record time for a two-week engagement in 2006, WICKED, the smash-hit musical, has returned to the SAN DIEGO CIVIC THEATRE, playing from JULY 29 - AUGUST 30, 2009.

The winners of the 2009 Touring Broadway Awards were revealed in a special Awards Ceremony during The Broadway League's annual Spring Road Conference at the Hilton New York in Manhattan. Playbill and Sirius XM Radio's Seth Rudetsky announced the awards. Three officers from the League's Kids Advisory Board presented The Audience Choice Award.

The 2nd North American tour of the worldwide smash WICKED launches at the Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall in Fort Myers, FL on March 7, and runs through March 29, 2009.
