Chad Armel Releases New Poetry Book
by BWW News Desk - Mar 9, 2015

Author Chad Armel of Greensburg, Pennsylvania has recently launched his thought provoking poetry book 'Stepping Stones' at Barnes & Noble, Google Play, as well as other online retailers. Armel, a writer and blogger, has been working toward publication for nine years. After several revisions, the final version has been released. In addition, he is founder of www.GreensburgHappenings.com, a local website that covers current events in and around the Greensburg Pennsylvania area. What started out in 2006 as a poetry book discussing the Stepping Stones of life, has transformed into a storyboard of life itself. Since the original version of 'Stepping Stones,' Chad has married his long time girlfriend, who was the inspiration for many of the original poems in this compilation, and the couple now has a son. This prompted Chad to make a few changes, and add an additional poem titled 'My Son' to complete the current Stepping Stones of his life. Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, Chad A. Armel has established himself as a writer, blogger, and a gentleman. From press releases to music reviews, Chad has found success in sharing with others his thoughts and ideas through constructing written content. Among other areas of writing, Chad has always had a love and passion for expressing himself through poetry. Chad Armel is available for interviews and appearances. For booking presentations, media appearances, interviews, and/or book-signings, contact chad.armel@outlook.com (more...)

BWW Reviews: Steadfast Fans of Iconic BARBARA COOK Are 'On Her Side' at Lincoln Center's American Songbook
by Alix Cohen - Mar 1, 2015

“Are You Havin' Any Fun?” the formidable Barbara Cook breezily asks in song with the intimacy of an old friend. Having had her first paid (50 cents) singing job at the age of eight, Cook looks back on a lengthy career feeling lucky. It's been weeks since she's sung due to health issues laying her low, but Cook is not, she assures us, by any means down and out. “I like to feel people are on my side and you sure sound like you are.” Throughout her show last night as part of the American Songbook series at Lincoln Center's The Appel Room, the artist performs with honesty, commitment, and the compelling interpretation for which she's well known. She asks that lights be turned up in order to see those with whom she communicates. (more...)

BWW Interview: Britain's Celebrated Chanteuse BARB JUNGR Makes 54 Below Debut Tonight Set to Conquer Another New York Cabaret Club
by Stephen Hanks - Jan 2, 2015

When Barb Jungr takes the stage tonight for her debut at 54 Below (she also be at the club tomorrow night and Sunday night; all shows at 7pm), the acclaimed British chanteuse will have conquered another major New York nightclub venue, having in past years performed critically acclaimed shows at the Café Carlyle, Joe's Pub, the Metropolitan Room. She even knocked them dead at the 59E59 theater twice in less than a year, with her show Dancing the Dark (read my review here) in December 2013 and Hard Rain (review here) this past November. While Jungr is still performing the latter--amazing interpretations of some of the most intensely political Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen songs—throughout Europe and has earned enormous praise for the CD of the same name, her 54 Below show, Mad About the Boy and No Regrets, will be an amalgam of Jungr's greatest hits from past shows and CD, plus some songs she'll be doing for the first time. BWW Reviews: Wandering with Jessica Lang Dance
by Melia Kraus-har - Dec 9, 2014

Jessica Lang Dance premiered The Wanderer at BAM Fisher in a wintery diorama that showcased Artistic Director and Choreographer Jessica Lang's comprehensive design. Starting a few minutes late on Friday, December 5th allowed time to observe the stage. Five white trees made of coiled rope hung from the ceiling, four white ledges protruded from one wall, a white ladder dangled in the balcony, and a white marley floor tracked a U-shape filled with black marley. In this minimalist scape, Lang's dancers morphed from beings to elements of nature with Schubert's libretto (The Fair Maid of the Mill). (more...)
