Deceit, secrets, and lies. Not exactly solid building blocks for a small, tight-knit community, but somehow, the tiny town of Gracepoint manages to thrive despite this rocky foundation – or, at least, it did until Danny's murder rattled the entire village. There is one pillar, though, that has so far managed to hold strong as everyone else succumbs to suspicion and gossip: Kathy Eaton, the editor of Gracepoint's newspaper. Recently, I got the chance to speak with the crazy talented Alisen Down, who plays Kathy, about her experiences on the show, and about where Kathy stands in a town full of mystery. (more...)

As part of the amazing theater program at USN, Aidan's been learning from the best: Catherine Coke, whose resume includes work on all levels of professional theater, heads the program, with the estimable Jim Manning, perhaps Nashville's hardest working scenic designer (not to detract from any of the other designers in town, of course, who do great work, but Jim Manning - a 2012 First Night Star Award winner - tends to work on multiple productions for multiple companies at the same time. Whew!), heading technical and design teams. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Stellar TWINTASTIC at the El Portal One More WeekendBWW Reviews: Stellar TWINTASTIC at the El Portal One More Weekend
by Don Grigware - Mar 23, 2015

Actors/singers Eddie and Anthony Edwards, identical twins originally from Burbank, Ca, have been doing singing impressions for the last 30 years. In their renowned Vegas-style show entitled Twintastic, which tours much of the east coast and Canada, Anthony creates mostly male celebrities and Eddie, the females. Eddie's most popular divas are Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand and Cher. In their new show for 2015, currently onstage at the El Portal in NoHo through March 29 only, he does not do Midler, but adds Celine Dion to his regular roster of Barbra and Cher. These vocal impressions, apart from incorporating incredible wigs, makeup and costumes, employ Eddie's and Anthony's actual voices - that's right, there is no lip-syncing, they are doing their own singing... and their vocals... are amazingly precise and on.target. I am on my way back to the UK and happily writing this blog from the plane! Somehow, I'm always travelling to the UK on an overnight flight, right after finishing another gig. This means that I am over-excited, over-tired and yet, not sleeping. How on earth I am going to stay awake during my five-hour layover in Dublin? As tempting as it is to spend it drinking pints of Guinness, I do need to take care of my voice. After all, I am headed to Aberdeen for my run through and first performance of 'Tonight From The West End' with Kerry Ellis and Adam Garcia.  (more...)
