Signature Theatre presents Elmer Gantry, a musical version of Sinclair Lewis' best-selling novel, directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Schaeffer collaborated on the last production of Elmer Gantry at Marriott's Lincolnshire Theatre in Chicago with authors John Bishop (book), Mel Marvin (music) and Bob Satuloff (lyrics) in 1998; the show has not been produced since then. This will be the 5th production in the show's history. Running in the MAX Theatre October 7 - November 9, Signature's production will include several brand new songs by Mel Marvin and Bob Satuloff and a reimagined script that John Bishop worked on until his death in 2006. The currently operating proton center, which houses a cyclotron and three treatment rooms, is adding a two-room ProNova SC360 system. The ProNova system installation, which includes a compact superconducting Gantry treatment room and beam line, will be completed in December 2014. At a meeting of the Council for Science and Technology Policy in March 2010, out of a total of 565 applications from across Japan, 30 'Core Researchers and Projects' were awarded grants based on their notable potential in the advancement of Japanese science and technology. Hokkaido University's 'Advanced Radiation Therapy Project Real-time Tumor-tracking with Molecular Imaging Technique' project was awarded a FIRST grant following an application by Professor Hiroki Shirato of the Department of Radiation Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine*. This was the only application accepted in the field of radiation therapy.
