Michael Attenborough's production of William Shakespeare's King Lear is playing at the Almeida Theatre until 3 November 2012, with press night 11 September. Designs are by Tom Scutt with lighting by Jon Clark and sound and music by Dan Jones. The Almeida's production of King Lear is part of the World Shakespeare Festival. The festival, produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company for London 2012, will showcase the best of the UK and international creative talents, exploring the contemporary relevance of Shakespeare. Looking at the first British convict colony to land in Australia, OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD will launch at the Octagon Theatre Bolton today, 3 September. Broadway, film and television casting director Barry Moss passed away in Manhattan on June 17, 2014. He was 74. A video tribute, created by Denise Pence and 'Broadway: The Golden Age' film trilogy filmmaker Rick McKay, honored the legendary casting director at a Memorial Tribute held in Moss's honor in New York City today, September 29th. The 12-minute video tribute includes an interview with 50-year friend John Rubinstein, who is on the road in the new PIPPIN and could not attend, and some rare footage of Lucie Arnaz performing 'They're Playing Our Song,' both shot by McKay. Michael Pennington, two-time Olivier Award nominee, an artist of international stature and one of England's greatest classical actors, will play the title role in William Shakespeare's tragedy King Lear directed by Arin Arbus. For the second production in Theatre for a New Audience's inaugural season at its first permanent home, the new Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place in Brooklyn, Mr. Pennington leads a company of 22 actors. King Lear begins previews March 14 for an opening March 27 and a run through May 4. (more...)

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) begins its 40th Anniversary, the 2014-2015 Season, with MASTER CLASS the Tony Award-winning play by Terrence McNally, today, August 7. Angela Iannone reprises her role of legendary opera diva Maria Callas, which she first performed at MCT in 1999. MASTER CLASS is a collaboration with Milwaukee Opera Theatre (MOT) and Carroll University. MOT Artistic Director Jill Anna Ponasik and Carroll theatre professor James Zager will co-direct the production. MASTER CLASS performs in the Broadway Theatre Center's Cabot Theatre in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. (more...)

Michael Attenborough will direct Jonathan Pryce as William Shakespeare's King Lear running at the Almeida Theatre from the 31 August - 3 November 2012, with press night 11 September. Designs are by Tom Scutt with lighting by Jon Clark and sound and music by Dan Jones. The Almeida's production of King Lear is part of the World Shakespeare Festival. The festival, produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company for London 2012, will showcase the best of the UK and international creative talents, exploring the contemporary relevance of Shakespeare. From 26 July - 12 August 2012, the Criterion Theatre will present Playing The Games, a programme of work which will celebrate both artistic and sporting talent featuring emerging and established actors, comedians, musicians, playwrights and Olympians. Sam Hodges, Producer of the Criterion Theatre, has commissioned two new plays by emerging British playwrights Serge Cartwright and Adam Brace in response to the presence of the Olympic Games in London-After the Party and Taking Part, respectively.
