Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. This is an original stage adaptation of the story and the role of Ebenezer Scrooge is not available for audition. All other roles are available. Women will portray all of the ghosts. Three young women speaking sequentially and moving in dance portray the Ghost of Christmas Past. Classical dance training is a plus for these roles. This is a non-musical version of the story. (more...)

An estimated 100 children from New York-based Boys & Girls Clubs and Ironman will join Empire BlueCross BlueShield associates, business leaders and riders as 'Journey for Health' wraps up the 2013 tour. 'Journey for Health' is a bicycle tour created to educate and inspire America's youth to live healthier lifestyles. It kicked off in Long Beach, California, on August 22nd. Led by Gary Earl, a nationally recognized community leader, the 45-day, 3,200-mile tour has gone through 12 states and wraps up in New York City today, National Child Health Day. (more...)

Coming to America: International Adoptions of School-Age Children on the Rise

World Association for Children and Parents (WACAP), a veteran international nonprofit adoption and child assistance agency, has seen a rise in the number of school-age children being adopted by U.S. families in recent years. While the numbers of children adopted internationally overall has continued to decline, statistics from the U.S. State Department report that the number of international adoptions of children age 5-12 has increased by nearly 15 percent between 1999 and 2012. The recent adoption of 9-year-old Monika from Bulgaria - a country where just over a year ago more than 62 percent of the children adopted by U.S. families were between these ages - is one story of success.
