AMERICAN CANDY to Present GREASE 3 Next MonthAMERICAN CANDY to Present GREASE 3 Next Month
by BWW News Desk - May 6, 2015

AMERICAN CANDY, best known for its wildly popular sketch comedy is taking on a new ambitious endeavor - full length musical comedy with GREASE 3: The Browning of Rydell. It's 1964 and the infamous Rydell High in Southern California has become racially integrated. Sweet, smart new girl and Brooklynite Lauren finds herself in the middle of the struggle to make the integration a success, while battling affairs of the heart with school heartthrob Will. Set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement and Malcolm X's assassination, this musical addresses serious themes with AMERICAN CANDY's outrageously hilarious signature brand of smart comedy. If you liked the movie Grease as a kid growing up but wondered why you didn't see any brown faces, you will not want to miss AMERICAN CANDY's GREASE 3. (more...)

In a world that is so meticulously run by big business, it often seems as though the universe itself revolves around the almighty dollar. Particularly in the reality for artists, the corporate world is rarely viewed as an entity of good. Rather, it is seen as a soul sucking enterprise that can leave one wondering if their colleagues are man or beast. That appears to be the purpose of Doug Reed's latest Brainchild The Nails. 4th Annual Jimmy the Greek's Maine Mall 5k Benefits Lyme Disease Awareness, 5/34th Annual Jimmy the Greek's Maine Mall 5k Benefits Lyme Disease Awareness, 5/3
by BWW News Desk - Apr 17, 2015

LymeBuddies (www.lymebuddies.com), the Brainchild of Amie Levasseur and Angela Coulombe, two 'moms from Maine', offers support to those affected by Lyme disease and holds events to help raise awareness about the disease. As reported by the CDC, there are more new cases of Lyme Disease in the US annually than Hepatitis, HIV, Colon Caner and Breast Cancer. Last year there were 300,000 new cases reported; that's 5,770 cases per week, or 822 cases per day! Prevention and early detection are the keys to overcoming the disease. Early symptoms of Lyme Disease include flu-like symptoms, swollen lymph nodes, headaches, fatigue, muscle and joint aches that make day-to-day functions such as going to work, looking after a family or doing regular housework very difficult and sometimes impossible. LymeBuddies co-founder Amie Levasseur says 'When people get diagnosed with a serious illness they usually get a lot of information, resources and follow up from their medical providers. With Lyme Disease, patients are often told they will be cured with a short round of antibiotics. But for those who miss early diagnosis and treatment, symptoms are much more aggressive and long term and patients end up feeling scared and alone looking for answers. We want to help bridge that gap. We aim to help guide people through prevention, education, advocacy, awareness and most importantly hope.' 'Keeping the conversation around Lyme going is crucial to continuing to raise awareness about the disease,' said Angela Coulombe, of LymeBuddies. 'We are extremely lucky that over the years we have developed a relationship within our communities to help provide information and support to those who need it. Keeping the topic out there, front and center, definitely helps the continuum in building awareness. We are also so thankful for those who give of their time to help make this event a fun, family-orientated event.' This year's event includes: Emcee - Sharon Rose Vaznis, WCSH6 Free pizza buffet post race Free music Join in the #LymeDiseaseChallenge and take a bite out of Lyme Free massages provided by HealthSource of Portland North Information about Lyme Disease from local groups/ MDs 4th Annual Jimmy the Greek's Maine Mall 5k for Lyme Disease Awareness information: Sunday, May 3, 2015, Race starts: 9:30am Race day registration opens at 7am, Jimmy the Greek's, 150 Philbrook Ave, South Portland, ME.
