Both new and returning BBII dancers will perform together for the first time in First Look, a new program featuring a range of works curated to reflect the main Company's diverse repertoire. Select Boston Ballet School Summer Dance Program (SDP) students will also perform alongside BBII company members in this one-day-only performance. First Look takes place on Saturday, July 30 at 3 pm in Boston Ballet's grand rehearsal studio at its South End headquarters, which transforms into an intimate, state-of-the-art black box theater. Comprising works by two luminaries of twentieth century literature, a giant of European Theatre and one of the great English novelists, the season kicks off with Winnie The Pooh creator, A A Milne's 1921 theatrical work The Dover Road, which runs from September 6 to October 1 and is directed by Nichola McAuliffe. The Dover Road, which was first performed in 1921, is a light- hearted comedy set in a mysterious house just off the Dover Road, inhabited by the enigmatic Mr Latimer. ISA BRIONES was born Isabella Camille Briones in London, England. Her parents, Jon Jon Briones and Megan Johnson Briones are both actors and singers, and her younger brother, Teo Briones is also an actor. She began modeling in New York at the age of 3, and started acting when her family moved to Los Angeles in 2006. She is best known for her role in the film Takers, playing Matt Dillon's daughter. Isa is entering her senior year of high school, and is excited to be making her professional theater debut in this production of Next to Normal. New musical No Horizon has been garnering a good deal of attention, with airings on Elaine Paige's radio show, and Chris Evans dubbing it 'the Yorkshire Les Mis'.  It would perhaps be fairer to say it is in the vein of The Theory of Everything, only with added Yorkshire charm.  Based on a true story, No Horizon depicts the life of Nicholas Saunderson, a young Yorkshireman who was blinded by smallpox as a baby.  Despite his humble origins and disability in a time before the invention of braille, his incredible mind leads him to success at Cambridge, where he becomes the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics, a post held by the likes of Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking.   (more...)
