People's Light to Host First Annual Family Fun Day on 9/21

On Sunday, September 21 from 12 to 5 pm, People's Light will host our First Annual Family Fun Day in celebration of the 40th Anniversary Season. This is a free community event for all ages, featuring family games, interactive play, artisan vendors, live performances, food vendors and more. PHANTOM Costume Exhibit Precedes Tour's Orpheum Engagement

In celebration of The Orpheum Theatre's upcoming engagement of Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, the Orpheum, in partnership with Carriage Crossing and the Phantom North American Tour, is hosting a special limited-time free exhibit of selected Phantom costumes by the late Tony Award-winning designer Maria Björnson. Björnson's sketches as well as costumes from the production will be on display in Suite 555 at Carriage Crossing (4675 Merchants Park Cir., Collierville, TN) September 12-21, Mon-Sat 10am-6pm and Sun 1pm-5pm. Hello Broadway World! Our fourth cabaret at 54 BELOW went really well! Milly and I had such a great time-we had the chance to perform with some of our favorite actors, Ben Thompson, who Milly shared the stage with in Matilda The Musical, and the incredibly talented Laura Osnes who originated the title role in Cinderella. We got to try out some new material, including a medley in which we sing duets together with bits of choreography included which was a bit nerve-wracking but I think it paid off-the audience seemed to really enjoy the show. Mallorie Moody Releases THE LIFE OF A HAIR SCRUNCHIE

Mallorie Moody is proud to announce the release of 'The Life of a Hair Scrunchie,' a children's book that was initially created as part of a sixth-grade writing assessment. The book will be available Sept. 23 on the Amazon Kindle. 'The Life of a Hair Scrunchie' will feature a collection of short stories from the eyes of two hair scrunchies named Abigail and Madison. After being purchased from a local Wal-Mart, the two scrunchies try to hold up to the standards of a new world that requires a different kind of flexibility. Mallorie, a singer-songwriter, first began writing the children's book while enrolled at Franklin Alternative Middle School in 2001. 'We were given a writing assessment in class one day and were instructed to create a short story,' says Mallorie. ' I did, and it was read aloud to the class. Everyone loved it. It made them laugh.' Mallorie remembered how well her story was received by her peers and kept record of it, adding to it throughout high school and college with the goal of making others laugh in the future.
