Delman is an award winning photographer whose work has appeared in Time, Interview, Elle, GQ, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Gotham, and Vogue. He has photographed a roster of notable names, actors and rock stars. When he first saw Copeland, in 2011, while she was still striving to rise in the ranks of American Ballet Theatre, he believed he had found a really special subject to capture. Copeland has since become the first female, African-American principal dancer for ABT. “Every hero has a choice.” That's not exactly the tagline of HBO's new drama Westworld, but it should be. Westworld explores mankind at it's core and what our choices say about us. It explores the depths and depravity of humanity, our culture, and our pleasures. What do our choices and our desires say? What is entertainment and why is it so often riddled with sex, violence, and most frequently sexual violence? While we constantly hide behind the separation between fiction and reality, the perverted, exploitative, and gratuitous demand for inclusion of what we generally condemn as morally wrong in our society to be present and pronounced in our media is undoubtable and HBO as a network is frequently one of our biggest culprits. But, perhaps that is why Westworld works so brilliantly. (more...)

The two exhibitions at 730 Fifth Avenue will showcase paintings, works on paper, sculpture, and photography. Straus is known for his majestic and luminous depictions of the sublime, which are often saturated with a deep concern about social and environmental issues. His penetrating dark humor can transport the viewer to post-apocalyptic worlds and often offers a wry observation on how humans have altered the natural landscape. The exhibitions coincide with the publication of a new monograph (Gli Ori, Italy, November 2016). An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, November 22, from 6-8 p.m. (more...)
