Under the guidance of industry professionals at Florida's largest award-winning professional regional theatre, area students are tackling the issue as they prepare to produce the drama The Laramie Project on the Theatre's professional stage. This September, for the first time in eleven years, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) will present an opera in the fall: a new production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute. This is the first new production of The Magic Flute in Chicago in 17 years, the last being Chicago Opera Theater's production in 1995 at the Athenaeum Theatre. The opera will feature the Chicago premiere of the English translation by Jeremy Sams. The Magic Flute performs at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park on September 15, 19, 21, and 23. (more...)

Last night's primetime coverage on NBC (8-11:43 p.m. ET/PT) earned a 21.8/35 national rating/share, the highest-rated night in ANY Summer Olympics since the 1996 Atlanta Games, and drew 38.7 million viewers, the most for the first Tuesday of a non-U.S. Summer Games in the history of televised Summer Olympics (Rome, 1960).· The household (21.8) rating last night was the best Tuesday night telecast, on any network, since the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics (22.3 rating on 2/19/02).
