The Kretzer Piano Music Foundation presented the 4th annual PHYSICIANS TALENT SHOWCASE (PTS) at The Harriet Himmel Theater on August 18. The event attracted more than 400 fans, raising $60,000 that will enable the nonprofit organization to expand its music education programs for children in need. The national tour of the new musical comedy BULLETS OVER BROADWAY, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath (Beautiful) for the 1994 film, has announced its complete cast for the production which will launch in Cleveland, OH at Playhouse Square with performances beginning October 6, 2015. Westchester Broadway Theatre is taking audiences back to the glory days of Hollywood's Golden Age with its upcoming production of Lynnette Barkley and Christopher McGovern's Backwards in High Heels: The Ginger Musical, running August 13-September 20. As the cast, under the leadership of director/choreographer Jeremy Benton, got into the serious business of rehearsals, photographer Jake Primmerman was on hand to commemorate the work that goes into bringing the world of the 1930s movie musical to life onstage at WBT. Today, 437 local nonprofit organizations will be seeking donations during the second annual, 24-hour GREAT GIVE, sponsored by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties and the United Way of Palm Beach County. But yesterday, 10 of these nonprofits united for a musical overture to this year's GREAT GIVE as nine talented pianists simultaneously played nine painted pianos in the poolside Palm Court at The Colony Hotel, Palm Beach. It's a celebration of the many ways we come to love the night sky - as wide-eyed children who look up in wonderment, as young lovers who fall under its enchantment, and as star-gazers of all ages who contemplate love and life on this small blue dot in the universe. And, of course, the stars spark our imagination about what lies beyond… so the show also features some fascinating stories about new discoveries about our star-studded cosmos! There was astonishment on the faces of a packed Concert Hall at Lynn University in Boca Raton Florida, as Tommy Tune at the end of the show asked the audience to sing Happy 76th Birthday to him. The way Tune had just danced, sung, and charmed, no one including producer and Elizabeth Taylor look-a-like Jan McArt could believe the stunning nine time Tony Award winner was a senior citizen. A designated New York City Living Landmark had become a snowbird for the weekend to perform at the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn University. The incisive images of celebrities, political figures, designers and society's elite filled the walls of the elegant gallery. Hamptons tastemakers with a keen eye for excellent design and fine art flocked to the newly launched venture of acclaimed interior designer Elizabeth Hagins and noted artist, art advisor & collector Richard Mortimer, Hagins & Mortimer Design at 9 Windmill Lane in Southampton Village. The draw was an exclusive salon style showing of the works of two well known painters - artists Christopher Milne and William Pagano. The exhibition was set in the midst of important 20th Century furniture and lighting. The show will continue through Monday, August 18.
