When the first production of ALWAYS & FOREVER was on stage at Illusion Theater in 1996, it played to standing-room-only crowds for more than three months. After nearly 15 years of audience requests, Illusion Theater is pleased to announce the return of the hit musical revue, created by Richard D. Thompson, Sanford Moore and Garry Q. Lewis. Always and Forever, starring original cast members T. Mychael Rambo and Dennis Spears, will run August 22-October 3, 2010, at the Illusion's 8th floor theater, 528 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis (previews to be held Friday and Saturday, August 20-21).
Opening in less than two weeks at Starlight Musical Theatre's stage is Hello, Dolly!, the classic Broadway musical tale of Dolly Levi and her mischievous matchmaking ways. For Starlight's 3rd and final summertime show, Starlight has brought aboard a fantastic cast and creative team to ensure the season ends with a resounding 'bang'.
Today we are taking a listen to the Original Broadway Cast Recording of SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM starring Barbra Cook, Tom Wopat, Vanessa Williams, Leslie Kritzer, Euan Morton and Norm Lewis and also taking a critical look back at his incredible, incomparable career. While the show onstage at Studio 54 as directed by James Lapine failed to catch fire or leave a big impression on critics or audiences, PS Classics went to the trouble to record a cast album preserving most of the show as it was seen so they deserve praise if only for that. There are some obscurities here - some college ditties, cut COMPANY finales, an abandoned GYPSY number - plus brand new, candid interviews with Sondheim himself as well as a shiny new Sondheim patter song written expressly for this revue titled 'God'. Never a more applicable song title could have come from Sondheim's pen when discussing - and poking fun at - his own career as the Brains Behind Broadway. Let's see how Sondheim in general, as well as this show, stack up on (the) record!

Having sold over 60 million records worldwide, The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie are progressive pop, folk rock legends to the 10th degree. Their shimmering and infectious hits like Happy Together, Eleanor, You Baby, She'd Rather Be with Me, and their impassioned rendering of Bob Dylan's, It Ain't Me, Babe, remain some of the rock era's loveliest tunes, say critics, as they continuously embody a good-humored sense of optimism that still sounds fresh here & now!
