CDI/Concert Dance Inc. (CDI) presents the world premiere of The Chicago Project: Future Present at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn, on Friday, September 22 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

CDI/Concert Dance Inc. (CDI) returns to the Ravinia Festival as part of the annual Ruth Page Festival of Dance Today, Sept. 7 and Friday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Ravinia's Bennett Gordon Hall. Ravinia is located at 418 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park and gates to the event open at 6:30 p.m.

For its 50th season, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) has been presenting a retrospective of some of the troupe's signature works. The culminating event of this landmark season will be NEC's most famous and successful production, 'A Soldier's Play' by Charles Fuller, which NEC first presented in 1981 at Theatre Four.

Five theatre directors are slated for the fifth Sundance Institute | LUMA Foundation Theatre Directors Retreat, which convenes in Arles, France, August 25 through September 7. The Retreat is one of 24 residencies and Labs the Institute hosts annually across the world, and is an integral part of the Theatre Program's ongoing engagement with global theatremakers. 

As previously announced, Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, opens its 2017/18 season with the World Premiere of TREVOR the musical.

Featured performances for the month of July at City Winery Chicago, include political satirists The Capitol Steps on July 2, Dweezil Zappa, son of the late Frank Zappa, on July 7, R&B Grammy-nominated duo Les Nubians on July 10, British rockers The Graham Parker Duo on July 12, Country Music Association Musician of the Year Mac McAnally on July 19, stand-up comedian Sandra Bernhard (July 20-21) and more.

After great success at The Watermill Theatre earlier this year, Paul Hart's powerful, explosive production of Shakespeare's immortal tale of an all-consuming love, ROMEO AND JULIET with music by Mumford and Sons and Hozier will tour nationally and internationally in rep alongside a brand new production of TWELFTH NIGHT featuring the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.

When the Shaw Festival's 2017 production of Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan begins previews on May 3 at the Festival Theatre, it marks two milestones for Artistic Director Tim Carroll - a Shaw Festival directorial debut and his first undertaking of a work by the Festival's namesake. His production joins the tradition of earlier presentations of Saint Joan by former artistic directors Christopher Newton and Jackie Maxwell in 1981 and 2007, respectively.

The 50th season of The Negro Ensemble Company, a year-long retrospective of some of the troupe's signature works, continues May 24 to June 10 at Theatre 80 St. Marks with 'Daughters of the Mock' by Judi Ann Mason.

Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Mike Isaacson will be presented The Commercial Theater Institute's Robert Whitehead Award for 'outstanding achievement in commercial theatre producing' at a reception at Sardi's on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. It was initially scheduled for March 14th but was rescheduled due to snowstorm Stella.

This Spring, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. continues the celebration of its 50th Anniversary season, in which it is remounting classic plays of the company's past.

The 2017 Robert Whitehead Awards Ceremony originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, has been postponed due to inclement weather. A new date and time will be announced shortly.
