Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE) has announced the Blu-ray high-definition debut of Disney's animated masterpiece, Beauty and the Beast on October 5, 2010.

Collectively the group has earned 16 nominations and won four Academy Awards.

Michael Riedel reveals this morning that a likely Broadway-bound musical adaptation of Leap of Faith (based off of the 1992 film starring Steve Martin) had an industry reading last week starring Raul Esparza as the preacher, Sutton Foster, and Kendra Kassebaum. The musical workshop, featuring a score by Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermain composer Alan Menken and lryics by Glenn Slater, had Promises, Promises director/choreographer Rob Ashford at the helm. Janus Cercone, who authored the original screenplay also penned the musical book.

The New York Times reports that Al Pacino will star in a big screen adaptation of Phillip Roth's novel, The Humbling. Pacino is the owner of the motion picture rights. The story centers on an insignificant stage actor who becomes reinvigorated by a younger woman. Barry Levinson, Oscar winner for Rain Man and Oscar nominated for Bugsy, rounds out the creative trifecta. Celebrated publicist Pat Kingsley is also attached.

Variety is reporting that The Stephen Daldry-helmed revival of his 1992 production of An Inspector Calls, currently running in a limited engagement at the Novello Theatre in the West End, will transfer to Wyndhams Theatre in early December for a 16-week run.
