Bellarine Theatre Co. Presents FOOTLOOSE! August 2-10

Bellarine Theatre Company continues their tradition of bringing some of the area's top young talent to the stage with Footloose, the onstage musical adaption of the hit 1984 movie. The film starred Kevin Bacon in a breakout performance as Ren McCormack and John Lithgow as Reverend Shaw Moore. It also featured Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Penn, and Dianne Wiest. The film was a hit at the box office and resulted in a remake in 2011. The musical version of Footloose debuted on Broadway in 1998.

Ivoryton Playhouse 'Kicks Off Its Sunday Shoes' with FOOTLOOSE, Now thru 7/28

One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the Ivoryton Playhouse stage tonight, July 3rd. The movie was released in 1984 and the soundtrack reached #1 on the Billboard charts and sold over 17 million copies worldwide. Its journey to Broadway began in 1996 when director Walter Bobbie collaborated on a stage adaptation with Dean Pitchford and Tom Snow. FOOTLOOSE finally previewed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in the summer of 1998, and opened on Broadway on October 22nd. The next day, the show broke the box office record for the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where it continued to thrill audiences into July, 2000.

Ivoryton Playhouse to 'Kick Off its Sunday Shoes' with FOOTLOOSE, 7/3-28

FOOTLOOSE opens in Ivoryton on July 3rd and runs through July 28th . Performance times are Wednesday and Sunday matinees at 2pm. Evening performances are Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday and Saturday at 8pm. Tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for seniors, $20 for students and $15 for children and are available by calling the Playhouse box office at 860-767-7318 or by visiting our website at www.ivorytonplayhouse.org (Group rates are available by calling the box office for information.) The Playhouse is located at 103 Main Street in Ivoryton.

Danny Burstein, Eisa Davis, Raul Esparza, Peter Friedman, Judy Kuhn, Martin Moran, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Anika Noni Rose and Henry Stram will star in Marc Blitzstein's The Cradle Will Rock, the inaugural show of New York City Center's new Encores! Off-Center series, playing for five performances, July 10 - 13 at City Center. The show will be directed bySam Gold and choreographed by Chase Brock; Jeanine Tesori is the Encores! Off Center artistic director. Chris Fenwick is the music director. In keeping with City Center's founding mission to make the arts accessible to all and to younger audiences, the majority of tickets are $25.

Today in 1998, Footloose opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where it ran for 709 performances. Footloose is a 1998 musical based on the 1984 film of the same name. The music is by Tom Snow (among others), the lyrics by Dean Pitchford (with additional lyrics by Kenny Loggins), and the book by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. It starred Jeremy Kushnier as Ren McCormack, Stephen Lee Anderson as Reverend Shaw Moore, Jennifer Laura Thompson as Ariel Moore, Tom Plotkin as Willard Hewitt, and Dee Hoty as Vi Moore.
