Avant Bard theatre announces that veteran screen actor Khalil Kain will star with award-winning stage actor Louis E. Davis in Suzan-Lori Parks's acclaimed TOPDOG/UNDERDOG, led by award-winning director and Broadway performer DeMone Seraphin. The play-a tensely funny and dead serious tragicomedy about two African American brothers-in-struggle-won Parks the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for drama, and the New York Times named it the best American play of the last 25 years. The production runs from March 14 to April 14, 2019, at Gunston Arts Center Theatre Two in Arlington.

Spring Carousel features a collection of 15 solo piano compositions written by Winston while in recovery from a bone marrow transplant for Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) at City of Hope, in Duarte, California, near Los Angeles. His doctor, Stephen J. Forman, Chairman of the Hematology Department at City of Hope, is one of the world's four foremost authorities on hematology and bone marrow transplants. Proceeds from sales of Spring Carousel will directly benefit cancer research at City of Hope. George Winston is available for interviews upon request.

Due to popular demand, Joan Baez will extend her worldwide “Fare Thee Well” 2018 tour into 2019 including a newly confirmed show at Selma, AL's historic Walton Theatre on April 9. The intimate performance will mark Baez's first return to the area since joining Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Montgomery for the 1965 civil rights march. Critically acclaimed rock band Papa Roachconfirmed that they will release new music this Friday October 5th. The release will mark the band's first new tracks since 2017's album “Crooked Teeth” and is the first release from their forthcoming 10th studio album, due for release in early 2019.

Legendary American singer, songwriter, and performer Don McLean recently signed a third extension to his ongoing administration deal with Universal Music Publishing Group, worth $4.5 Million. McLean, whose relationship with UMPG goes back to 1990, had this to say on the deal, 'Universal has done a great job at getting my songs in movies and TV shows, and they are a first class, worldwide organization.”

Theatre Arlington held its 45th Annual Stony Awards at 6:30pm on Sunday, September 24th, 2018, honoring actors, designers, directors, volunteers and community partners for excellence in the productions during the 2017-2018 45th anniversary season. Guests gathered at the theater for drinks before the show and were then treated to a fun, light-hearted show with Interim Executive Producer, Steven D. Morris serving as the Master of Ceremonies and Don Powers on the piano, with entertainment by some of Theatre Arlington's favorite performers: Nik Blocker, Dawn Prejean, Tevin Cates, Donovan Lawson, Emily-Kate Ivey, Daniel Hernandez and Ashlyn Nichols. Plus, an unexpected surprise visit by Spiderman! Afterwards, all gathered in the lobby for more celebrating with drinks and a reception, sponsored in part by Cooper Street Bakery.
