PIPPIN Cast Album in the Works; Ghostlight to Release in June 2013!

Ghostlight Records will release the New Broadway Cast Recording for Roger O. Hirson and Stephen Schwartz's beloved coming-of-age musical comedy PIPPIN, which is now playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street) and opens on Thursday, April 25. The cast will record the album on April 29. The album will be release in June 2013 (date to be announced) and will feature material from the show never previously recorded. The album will be co-produced by composer Stephen Schwartz and Kurt Deutsch, and executive produced by Howard & Janet Kagan. (more...)

Dogfight, a musical based on the 1991 movie starring Lili Taylor and River Pheoniz, is the product of young brilliant minds who are up and comers in the theatre industry. The show follows the story of three marine's who have a 'Dogfight' - a competition to see who can bring the ugliest girl to a party. But, when 18-year-old Birdlace (Derek Klena ) asks out Rose (Lindsay Mendez), a plain-jane waitress, in efforts to win the competition, he ends up getting not at all what he expected. (more...)

STAGE TUBE: BC/EFA's 2013 Easter Bonnet Competition Raises Over $4.2 Million - Highlights!

The 27th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition raised a staggering $4,250,542 - eclipsing the previous high of $3,734,129 set in 2007. The grand total was announced Tuesday after six weeks of intensive fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by 47 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies. Four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots), two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks (Lucky Guy) and Grammy Award winner Cyndi Lauper (Kinky Boots) were on hand to announce the grand total at this year's Easter Bonnet Competition, which ended in two shows featuring original presentations, songs, dances and 19 intricate, custom-made bonnets. Playwrights Horizons will soon present the World Premiere production of Far From Heaven, the eagerly-awaited new musical with a book by Tony Award winner and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Richard Greenberg (Take Me Out, Three Days of Rain, the current Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Assembled Parties, both now on Broadway), music by Tony Award nominee Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway, Finding Neverland) and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway, The Grapes of Wrath, Finding Neverland). The production is choreographed by Alex Sanchez(Giant, Fiorello!) and directed by three-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway; Rent, Next to Normal, Giant). The musical is based on the Focus Features/Vulcan Productions motion picture Far From Heaven, written and directed by Todd Haynes.
