Dr. L. Jan Eira Releases New Medical Murder Mystery Novel, 'Still'
by BWW News Desk - Sep 4, 2013

'Still' is a medical murder mystery about a doctor who is invited out of town to give a medical conference. She is accompanied by her husband and sixteen year-old son. When they arrive, they soon discover the trip was a trap and what happens next is every parent's nightmare. Follow the story of a mass murderer who is dead set on taking his revenge on those who have wronged him in the past. His next target is Dr. Amy Sinclair herself. There have been a couple of murders perpetuated by this murderer in Dansville and a whole bunch of people have Gone Missing recently. Some of them are probably dead, too. Amy's husband, Ben, a police detective, teams up with the local police to try to catch the killer who poisoned Billy, their son. This psychopath, mass murderer is on a killing spree. It looks like he injects his victims with some paralyzing chemical, kills them, and then cuts their abdomen open with a scalpel. He obviously has had surgical training of sorts. He may be a surgeon, a veterinarian, a nurse or surgical tech. He knows anatomy and has good surgical skills. He removes the gallbladder, which he then takes with him. He will stop at nothing until he gets his hands on Dr. Amy Sinclair and her loved ones. What could be his motive behind his killings? Will Amy and Ben be able to save their son and find an antidote to the poison that is slowly paralyzing the boy's body? Will the killer be apprehended and brought to justice? 'Still' is available in print and ebook formats. Book Information: Still Author: Dr. L. Jan Eira Publisher: Xlibris ISBN: 978-1479749362 Published: December 2012 Pages: 246 About the Author: L. Review Roundup: MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY
by Arielle Ozery - Sep 16, 2013

Who would have thought that The Simpsons would ever make their Broadway debut? Many people did not but Anne Washburn shows that it is definitely their time to shine her play, Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play. This dark, out of the box comedy throws us forward about one century and follows a new civilization that is clumsily stumbling into its future...with a little help from Bart Simpson. Mr. Burns is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era can slowly but surely evolve into the mythology of another. Anne Washburn's plays have been featured many times, at different festivals. In 2011, her play A Devil at Noon was featured in the Humana Festival of New American Plays and in 2013, her play Sleep Rock Thy Brain was featured in the festival. (more...)

BWW Review: TONGUE OF A BIRD Doesn't Fly
by Nancy Grossman - Mar 15, 2014

Ellen Mclaughlin's TONGUE OF A BIRD is the first show in New Repertory Theatre's inaugural Next Rep Black Box Festival. No one can dispute the intimacy of the venue, or the up-close-and-personal flavor of the production, directed by Emily Ranii and featuring an all-female cast. This band of sisters bares the souls of their characters and supports each other like birds in chevron flight, but the play lacks sufficient lift to let them soar beyond the blue horizon, or over the peaks of the Adirondack Mountains where the story takes place.
